Richard Bebbington 12 marathons in 12 Months
White Peaks Marathon Dovedale Dipper Seabank (Skegness) Holly Challenge, Telford London Marathon, 2010 London Marathon, 2010 White Peaks Marathon

Richard Bebbington completed his 10th 26-mile event – the Belvoir Challenge, in north east Leicestershire – in four hours and 50 minutes. The route was over various terrain and included styles, cattle grids and rough and muddy ground.

"It proved to be one of the hardest yet – it was pure agony and I experienced pain like nothing before. The last eight miles I really struggled and to top it all, with four to go, I fell flat on my face. Fortunately, only my pride was hurt."

It leaves Coun Bebbington, who is raising money for Leicestershire children's charity, Wishes4Kids, with his home event, the Aldi Ashby 20 road race on Sunday, March 18, before his final run – the London Marathon – in April.

"The end is in sight – but anything can still go wrong."
