Richard Bebbington 12 marathons in 12 Months
White Peaks Marathon Dovedale Dipper Seabank (Skegness) Holly Challenge, Telford London Marathon, 2010 London Marathon, 2010 White Peaks Marathon

The Dovedale Dipper certainly lived up to its name. This was an extremely hard 26 miles cross country route, the hardest to date. With steep assents, map reading, and stiles to master, I knew this marathon would be my slowest. In saying that I still completed it, although I got cramp in both legs with just 2 miles to go. Completing the marathons is the main objective of the 12 marathon challenge.

This marathon, organised by Matlock Rotary, took you along the Dovedale valley, from Hartington, towards the limestone peaks of Chrome Hill and Parkhouse, on to Longnor. Turning south we then climbed up onto the Staffordshire Moorlands before crossing the Manifold Valley and over into Wolfscote Dale before turning North back to Hartington. The marathon was in the National Park with approximately 3966 feet of ascent.

Thanks to Matlock Rotary for an excellent event. It was extremley well organised and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a challenge.

Richard completed the Dovedale Dipper in a commendable time of 4 hours 45 minutes.
